The artwork on this piece was also used on the smaller size US poster. This format poster, used for drive-ins and special displays, is considerably rarer as far fewer were printed. It was printed on heavier paper stock and distributed rolled, making it harder to store than folded posters. Over time many of the rolled posters also got folded. This is one of the unfolded examples.
This large format poster does not surface very often
This cult film was directed by Martin Scorsese and written by Paul Schrader. It was the second time that Scorsese and Robert De Niro worked together, a collaboration that has to-date produced a total of nine feature films.
Director Martin Scorsese’s landmark motion picture tells the story of a taxi driver who’s chronically alone and develops a twisted obsession to save a young prostitute, with a penchant toward hard-core violence to achieve his ambitions. Robert DeNiro turned in an incredible performance as Travis Bickel in a frightening, Oscar-nominated performance. Artwork for this poster was done by Guy Peellaert. Rarely do these large format posters show up. Printed on heavy paper stock. Rare since they were primarily used for major motion pictures only and designed to be used outside the theatre on an easel.
